The Middle ages took place from around 500 to around 1500, a span of a thousand years. Although the Middle ages were conciterd the "dark ages" many great inventions took place that we still use today.
The reason why so many things were invented was because when the men went and traded they brought back things that would have usually taken time to do. With the spare time that some people had they focused on things other then growing food. Some people focused on inventing things and they succeeded in making them. On the other hand some peoples wish of inventing something was not so successful. Some people tried to turn copper into gold while others tried to make a potion that gave eternal life to whoever drank it.
Some of the inventions that took place were farming tools that decreased the time they spent growing food, armor that made fencing safer, a clock that kept time and paddles for a boat because they were located by seas. With a paddle they could be more efficient when traveling on the water. They also invented tidal wells and mills that brought drinking water to the town because they were located by surrounding seas and oceans. Another great invention during the Middle ages was the furnace that heated buildings. France was very cold in the winter so the furnace was important to them.
The inventors of these items were not very educated because they did not have a very well school system. The only school system they had was a guild, which is kind of like a modern day university, and the church. So it is impressive they made that much of a advancement in the time period. A few of the inventors were Johannes Guttenburg who invented the printing press that advanced the schooling system and Roger Bacon who invented the first known type of glasses.

How did this impact the people living in the Middle ages?
1. The farming products decreased the time it took to tend to the plants and people did not have to work as much.
2. Armor and weapon inventions caused there to be less injeries.
3. Medicines that were developed in the Middle ages prevented people from getting sick as often.
4. The furnace made the cold winters in france to seem less cold.
How did this impact us?
1. We use armor in wars thats based off of the Middle ages armor.
2. We defidently still use the furnace and clock. Think how much you use those things.
3. Medicines are important to us because with out them people could get sicknesses all the time and not live as long.
